INCONTINENCE IN A RETIREMENT HOME AS A SOCIAL PROBLEM

Incontinence means a serious problem for a person, whether he is living in a family or in a home for the elderly. We were interested in the issue of retirement home residents with incontinence from a social perspective. Perfect comfort includes quality nursing care, dignified environment and loving treatment. Incontinence reduces the comfort and can affect the lives of the elderly and their social relationships. The article maps the social group of senior citizens living in retirement homes. It analyzes whether the elderly perceive their incontinence as a problem in social relationships and whether incontinence interferes with coexistence in the retirement home.

Aim: The aim of the survey was to find out whether the elderly perceive their incontinence as a problem in social relationships and whether incontinence disrupts coexistence in the retirement home.

Methodology: The quantitative method of non-standardized anonymous questionnaire was selected for data collection.

Results and discussion: Based on a questionnaire survey, the results show that the elderly perceive incontinence as a problem in social relationships and disruption in coexistence in the retirement home.

Conclusion: In general, urine leakage is a social, hygienic and economic problem. Therefore, it is important to address this problem and address it adequately.
