Background: Burnout syndrome is often associated with long-term exposure of workers to demanding situations, excessive workload and lack of rest.
Objective: The aim of the research was to analyze the association between the risk of burnout in nurses and selected determinants.
Methods: Information was obtained using the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire, which was distributed electronically (65 %) and in paper form (35 %). Data obtained from 120 respondents, 95 % of whom were women, were analyzed in the SPSS program at a significance level of p = 0.05 and Fischer’s combined p-value method.
Results and discussion: The highest emotional exhaustion (74 %) was found in nurses in geriatric wards, who, however, maintained high work efficiency (62 %). Nurses with a second-level university education show positive job satisfaction (44 %), but higher depersonalization (61 %). Nurses with more than 41 years of experience have an increased risk of emotional exhaustion (82 %).
Conclusions: Targeted prevention of burnout requires a comprehensive approach that includes supporting interpersonal relationships, work-life balance, and building resilience to stress.
