PROSTITUTION IN THE CROSS-SECTION OF HISTORY PART II – BOHEMIA

Introduction: Prostitution in Bohemia has undergone an interesting historical development. The following contribution builds on the first part, which introduced the beginnings of the development of prostitution in the world up to the 15th century. The second part deals mainly with prostitution in Bohemia, with an emphasis on Prague, it also mentions Moravian Ostrava and other cities.

Aim: The aim of the second part is to give an overview of the development of prostitution in Bohemia and to familiarize it in more detail with the development in selected cities.

Methodology: For data collection was chosen the analysis of documents, the information was drawn from domestic and foreign reference sources, which are listed in the Literature section at the end of the paper. The authors drew a number of materials from their own archive collections and documents of Associate Professor Janiš.

Results: The results were analyzed and processed into a chronological overview.

Conclusion: The question of prostitution has always been a big topic for the whole society, and as already said, it has gone through an interesting historical development, from nomadic prostitution in public houses, brothels and hampejs from historical Prague to industrial Moravian Ostrava and its surroundings.
