EVALUATION OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN PATIENTS WITH DYSPHAGIA AFTER STROKE
- 1 Ústav ošetřovatelství, Fakulta zdravotnických věd, Univerzita Palackého v Olomouci
Background: Dysphagia after stroke is a common complication that significantly affects patients’ nutrition, hydration and psychosocial aspects of their life. The quality of life is significantly altered.
Aim: The aim of this paper is to identify all available instruments used to assess the quality of life in patients with dysphagia after stroke.
Methods: Scoping review in electronic databases SCOPUS, Web of Science and PubMed.
Results: In total, nine instruments were used to assess the quality of life in patients with dysphagia after stroke. These instruments are: SWAL-QOL, WHOQOL, EQ-5D, MDADI, DHI, OHRQOL, ADL, SAPP and SS-QOL.
Conclusion: Scoping review showed no instruments used in Czech settings. Further review in other databases is required to determine which instruments are used to assess quality of life in patients with dysphagia after stroke or which instrument would be appropriate for use in the Czech setting.
Keywords: stroke, quality of life, dysphagia, scoping review, swallowing
