Background: This practice-based study evaluates the importance of using the equipment and aids to facilitate patient care in a long-term care facility. Equipment or aids are defined as nursing aids, room equipment and aids to facilitate patient bathing.

Aim: The aim was to use a questionnaire survey with closed questions and statistical methods to find out whether the perception of the sufficiency of this equipment depends on any of the indicators, or whether it can itself have an impact on the satisfaction of nursing staff.
These are partial aids of a larger study, mapping the satisfaction of nursing staff and patients in long-term care hospitals.

Methods: quantitative questionnaire method (non-standardized  questionnaire).

Results: The worst result was recorded in both facilities for room equipment, better for bathing aids and the best result was for the aids needed for nursing care. The overall score of staff in long-term care hospital A was 4.18 and in long-term care hospital B it was 4.29. A positive Spearman's correlation coefficient calculated between the staff satisfaction and the availability of aids was rs=0.676. This represents a significant effect of aids sufficiency on staff satisfaction with p < 0.01. There was no significant difference in the provision of aids between the two health facilities or the gender of the nursing staff.

Conclusion: Our and other surveys show, that workplaces are well equipped. Moreover, this rather technical or material factor is usually solvable in practice by obtaining funding by providing any missing equipment by staff within their com-petences.

Keywords: long-term care hospital, long-term care, nursing care for the elderly
