PALIATIVE CARE ABOUT PATIENT WITH CARDIOLOGICAL DISEASE
- 1 Fakulta zdravotníctva, Katolícka univerzita v Ružomberku
Introduction: The modern medicine is making a major progress in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. There current hospitalizations, deteriorating functional conditions and refractory symptoms, occuring even though optimal therapies were provided, belong to the most significant predictors suggesting that patients with advanced heart failure are aproaching the end of their lives.
Aim: The aim of the paper was on the basis of an rewiev studies to point out to the bene- fits of palliative care in patients with chronic heart failure.
Methods: Thepaper has a character of a review study with the aim to interpret the pu- blished context of the palliative care in cardiology. The research studies were searched in the electronic databases PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect and Web of Science for the period 2010–2021.
Results: We searched in the databases for 191 potentially relevant studies: PubMed n = 30, Scopus n = 9, Science Direct n = 136, Web of Science n = 16. To the final we inclu- ded 9 in the analysis randomized trials, which evaluated the effectiveness interventions palliative care with time interval max. 6 months. The evidence-based studies and ob- servational studies have confirmed that the palliative care used in cardiology can actually alleviate suffering and better the quality of life of the patients with heart failure.
Conlusion:The palliative care is a specialized form of a medical care that has been shown to aid in the improvement of the severity of the symptoms, facilitate the discussions related to planning of the preliminary care in cardiology and to provide support to the patients and their families.
