NURSING CARE IN A PATIENT AFTER RECTAL SURGERY CONSIDERING VARIOUS SURGICAL WAYS

Introduction: Colorectal carcinoma is one of the most frequent malignant disease worldwide.

Aims: The main aim of the contribution is mapping the incidence of complications in patients after rectal surgery considering the chosen surgical way. To define how individual categories of complications within short post operational period affect choice of nursing interventions. The sample included 95 respondents after colorectal surgery performed in the traditional way, laparoscopic and robotic ways.

Methods and design: Prospective quantitative study. The method of non-standardized questionnaire and the study of medical documentation were used. For data analysis were used statistical methods.

Results and discussion: The results of the research show, that the extent of post operational complications in respondents is related to their age p = 0,00085. Factor of gender does not statistically significantly differ p = 0,2384 > 0,01. In patients who have undergone surgery laparoscopically the post operative complications occurred in significantly lower extent compared to the traditional or robotic ways p = 0,03216. The length of hospitalization after surgery in respondents of the chosen file does not relate to their way of surgery p = 0,2512 > 0,05. The results show that the nursing care in patient after rectal surgery is related to the surgical way.

Conclusion: The research has proven that the incidence of complications after colorectal surgery within short post operative period is related to the age of respondents and to the chosen surgical way and in full extent affects the choice of nursing interventions by a nurse.
